Judy Pay (Whyde)

Judy Pay (Whyde)

Family and friends of Judith L. Whyde, age 78, are privately celebrating her life.  Judith passed on November 7, 2020. She was born October 1, 1942 in Cleveland, to the late Wilson L. and Laverne H. (Case) Pay.

Judith spent much of her life in Hinckley where she served as a faithful member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.  Medina was her primary residence, where she was a leader in the community throughout her life.  Judith was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Her career included primary bookkeeper for B&B Appliance.

She will always be remembered as “The Cookie Lady” as she shared her treats with everyone around her, whether in her office, church or civic organization.

Judy also shared a uniquely beautiful expression of her love with family and friends by faithfully remembering them with holiday and birthday cards.  She demonstrated her love through tangible thoughtfulness.

Judy’s radiant smile and bold laughter preceded her as she entered a room.  She was a source of joy, comfort and love wherever she went.

Her daughter is fond of sharing that Judy’s strength, compassion, and not-so-gentle “nudges”, i.e., orders were given with the utmost love and respect.   It earned her the title “Sarg” from her family.

Judy loved to spend her “much needed time away” in Tampa, Florida with her daughter.  She graciously went to work at the school where Rhonda taught .

Everyone knew her as “Grandma Judy” or Miss Finding’s mom.  She adopted every child in the school as if they were her own.  It is said she embraced both the children and the To Do list with love and enthusiasm.

Judy is remembered by so many as their “second mom”, best friend and God’s leader.  Her grandsons matured knowing they could count on her to attend every school event, and bring snacks when needed.  Their friends often trusted her as their adopted grandma.

For the last two years Judy assumed the loving role of primary caregiver to her own mother, who recently celebrated her 100thbirthday.

Today Judy Pay Whyde is remembered for her grace, love, and leadership by the many who cherished her.  We all bid her “thank you, and safe journey” as she  follows the path Christ has set for her.

Judith is survived by her husband John E. “Jack” Whyde, to whom she was married for 41 years; son Eric R. Finding; daughter Dr. Rhonda J. Finding; siblings Wilson Pay, Jr., Tom Pay (Wanda), and Kathy Zuk (Dan); grandsons Eric R. Finding, Jr. (Mkenna), and Aaron S. Finding; great-granddaughter Lydia Finding;  Judith is preceded in death by her sister Janet Forbis.

A Livestream of the private family graveside service can be found on her obituary at waitefuneralhome.com on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 10:00 am.  Pastor Scott K. Silcox from Our Savior Lutheran will officiate.
