Russell W. Ranftl, age 72, of Hinckley, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 4, 2013. He was born on July 3, 1941 to the late Russell P. and Julia (nee Karcher) Ranftl in Cleveland. Russell retired as an operating engineer for Local 18. He was an avid outdoorsman and was a long-time member of the Euclid Hunting and Rifle Club. He will be dearly missed by his loving children R. Scott Ranftl, Laura (David) Szahler and Cherie (Greggory) Morgan; treasured grandchildren Jessica, Jared, Christopher, Hannah and Emma; sister Joan (Don) Skalak and brother William (Diane) Ranftl, niece Patricia and great-niece Violet, as well as many other loving family members and friends. Russell is preceded in death by his former wife Judy and grandsons Jonathan and Caleb. Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Waite and Son Funeral Home (3300 Center Road, Brunswick 44212). Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church (606 East Washington Street, Medina 44256) with Father Lee officiating. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Medina.
